And please pass it along to other gardeners NOT to buy compost from the ISU farm.
This breaks my heart to have to do this... But I was warned by someone this year and didn't listen so maybe someone will learn from my mistake.
I have never in my life seen compost as horrible as this.
I understand the farm is right off the interstate so plastic stuff mixed in, I get.
There are rocks everywhere. I've literally found 6 WHOLE plastic spoons and forks. There are glass shards all over. Zip ties. Rubber bands. I've found 2 latex gloves. I mean what the friken heck.
I've only used 4 buckets full of the TON we got.
But it's about 1/2 mulch/sticks and 1/2 compost.
Please spend the extra money and go to the store or find another local source.
For the first time ever we went and got a load of compost from the ISU farm. I was really excited to support my Alma Mater... Even more so since I was an Ag graduate.
I am seriously disgusted and so disappointed that the department I graduated from is selling something like this.
But that's not the worst. The worst is there are literal BONES in the compost.
BONES PEOPLE. I've found about 10 so far in the little I've picked through.
